Vermiculture and Vermicomposting: Techniques for Raising Worms and Using the Vermicompost in Your Operation
In this session you will learn about raising earthworms for the benefit of composting and nutrient-rich compost. Topics will also include using vermicompost teas to fertilize your plants as well as methods to use the compost that the worms produce in your plant production. Mr. Wellik will give an over-view of his certified all-natural alpine strawberry operation and how he's improved his production through vermiculture.

In this segment, you'll learn about green houses, cold frames, low tunnels and high tunnels. Learn how to construct your own cold frame. Learn about basic greenhouse and high tunnel design, configurations, and construction and get your questions answered.

Track 2: Flint Hill Farm Education Center and All-Natural Dairy Goat Production
In this segment you'll learn about the community based educational programs that are offered by Flint Hill Farm Educational Center, and how they work to promote sustainable agriculture and environments, as well as get an overview of their product offerings and dairy goat operation.

Representatives from area Community Supported Agriculture operations will provide overviews of their enterprises. They will offer practical advice on the pros and cons of CSA's and their personal experiences. There will be time devoted for the panel to field questions from participants.

Track 2: Organic Insect Pest Management
In this segment you will learn about managing your insect pests using organic pest control methods: including cultural; biological; mechanical and approved organic pesticides and where you can obtain the information. You'll also learn to identify various insect pests species to help you better manage your pest problems.
